Dympna made a different homemade breakfast each morning, with hot dishes as well as cereal and pastries, and we loved chatting with her. She clearly cares about the house’s history and about making guests feel welcome. James and Dympna were both wonderful hosts. The residence was clean and full of the historical charm we hoped to find in Boston. Our room was great, with cable and all the amenities. It was easy to walk to Boston’s main hub streets, and when we didn’t feel like walking, a cab was about $7. My boyfriend and I, both in our twenties and interested in local history, stayed in October 2012 and had a fabulous time. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Boston. Try to get one of the parking spots out back.

The Silver Line stops just around the corner, and a T station is only a few minutes away. Our room, Salthill, was huge, with a spacious private bathroom; WiFi and TV were available, and there was a kitchenette in the basement. We stayed two nights and absolutely loved it. Dympna and James made us feel right at home. Breakfast each morning was amazing, and sitting together around one big table gave us a chance to talk with them and the other guests.

The neighborhood worked really well, with some fabulous restaurants, Dunkin', and 7-Eleven all within walking distance. James was also helpful with directions, explaining which buses or trains to take to different parts of Boston. Our room was clean and beautiful, with a private bathroom and all the amenities. Guests can use a small kitchenette with tea, coffee, and a mini fridge. Dympna cooked delicious breakfasts both mornings. She likes trying new things, and there was always fruit, yogurt, granola, juice, and more. James and Dympna were wonderful hosts during my weekend away, and I’d definitely stay here again.

My mother especially enjoyed the breakfasts, both the food and the conversation. Dympna even kindly invited me to join them when I came to pick her up for a day in the city. The room was beautifully decorated, the bed was comfortable, and the private bathroom looked recently remodeled. A small TV issue was sorted out quickly. I live in a tiny South End apartment and couldn’t accommodate my mother, so friends suggested the Aisling. It was just around the corner from me and very comfortable for her stay. I booked for her, and Dympna was quick to respond to my emails. When we arrived, she and James were incredibly kind. We’ll be back on her next trip to town.

James and Dympna introduced us to the other guests as if we were old friends, and we felt warmly included. It reminded us of staying at Fawlty Towers, in the best way. They were flexible about our slightly unusual breakfast times, and our room had interesting books. That kind of thoughtfulness made the place feel exceptionally cozy and inviting, just what I hope for in a B&B. Before we arrived, Dympna offered to pick us up at the airport. When we said we were driving, she reserved a free parking space. James helped us figure out how to get around and suggested art exhibits we might enjoy. We were greeted by name, which was especially nice given that our names can be hard to remember. The rooms were comfortable, the location in South Boston was ideal, breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and the WiFi worked perfectly. Others have praised those things here, and we can confirm them. James and Dympna are the most gracious, charming B&B hosts we’ve met. Highly recommended.
