Boston Harbor Hotel

The pool was a real highlight for us. We spent close to two hours in the large, roughly 4-foot-deep pool, though the separate jacuzzi was hotter than we liked. We also appreciated the Amex Platinum perks, especially the $70 valet charge covered by the $100 credit. We were upgraded to a City view suite and loved seeing both the city and harbor from the 15th floor. The room was mostly comfortable, but the furniture felt dated, particularly the old-looking, lower-quality sofas. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was just okay. Our $45-per-person Amex allowance covered it, and the pancakes were good, but the salmon flatbread and three-egg omelet lacked much flavor. The chocolate croissant was bready without the flaky layers you’d hope for. It was our first one-night staycation here, and we had a nice time. We’ll probably come back.

The only thing I missed was a separate mini fridge where I could chill my own wine. The one in the room is an electronic minibar. Otherwise, the room felt very New England, and I’d choose a harbor view next time. I also liked the scent of the bath products. Housekeeping and turndown were especially good, and the staff and concierge were friendly. Breakfast in the room had the basics covered, including fresh croissants and OJ. It’s a five-star hotel with a great bar and facilities, and I’d stay again.

We barely wanted to get out of bed because it was so comfortable. My wife and I came for our anniversary and New Year’s, enjoyed the lobby celebration, then went outside at midnight for the fireworks. We also had a cocktail at the Dark Bar, which had a great atmosphere and service. The hotel is lovely, the staff attentive, and it’s close to the Seaport, North End, and lots of Boston attractions. We’re looking forward to coming back.

It was cold and gloomy in Boston, but the hotel made our short first visit a great one. We were there for a long weekend while my wife was in town for work. The service was excellent, and the staff helped us leave ahead of the storm and were accommodating throughout. I’d recommend it.
