Club Quarters Hotel Faneuil Hall, Boston

The staff were nice, though I didn’t interact with them much, and the hotel’s location is excellent. My room was okay but quite dated; the bathroom was similar, and the shower still had a very old curtain. Breakfast was decent, with ten egg options, though I think it would get tiresome if you stayed more than five days. The gym wasn’t usable. There was also an interior door leading to another guest’s room, so there was no sound isolation. Several times during the night, people tried to come into my room.

We came for a couple of nights and stayed longer. The downtown location made it easy to walk to different attractions and get around, and there’s free coffee and filtered water. Our room was excellent, we even got an upgrade, and the service was great. It was reassuring to have friendly people from housekeeping through the front desk. There’s a bar on the first floor too. I highly recommend it and would come back a thousand times. Hope they keep their standards up.

Small but cozy, and the memory foam mattress was nice, though it got warm. Fair warning. The coffee felt a bit stingy: just three Nespresso pods in the drawer, and the lobby coffee was only so-so. Two room outlets worked, but the three on the desk never did, even after someone said they’d fixed them, so bring a power strip. Being attached to Elephant and Castle Pub made the stay worthwhile, though it felt a little pricey for what you get.

The staff were really friendly, and having a great restaurant attached was a plus. I could walk to almost everywhere I needed to go during my stay. But the room was dirty, with dust on and around everything, no trash bags in the bins, and no mattress protector or fitted sheet on the bed. Under it was gross, with dust and trash. There weren’t any utensils or cookware for the stovetop either. I didn’t find bedbugs, or I would have left, but after a long trip and with my chronic illness, I just let it go.
