The Farrington Inn

The room smelled bad throughout my stay, and the property seemed poorly maintained. It wasn't properly cleaned before I arrived. The carpets were visibly dirty, the bed was awful and uncomfortable to sleep on, and the old sheets and pillows looked unclean. There was phlegm residue in the wash basin, which was extremely unhygienic. On both days I found hair in the bathtub, and nobody cleaned it.

I liked the beautiful, classic decor, especially the wooden banisters and fin de siècle rugs. It reminded me of The Chelsea Hotel, where I visited a salon in the lofts back in 2006. Great salon, by the way! The rooms were up to par, and for a week's stay I found it economical. Front office staff were decent, fair, and helpful. They also let me use my mother's credit card without any hassle, which was great compared with the trouble I had at the DoubleTree near Tufts in October 2024. I digress. There was one concerning incident. My door didn't lock very well, and one night a man tried to enter my room. I yelled at him at the top of my lungs, asking why he was in my room, and he left right away. I didn't call the police because I'm an idiot! I'd suggest improving the locks. I stayed here in June 2024.

My room was at least clean, but it wasn't worth the price. The place is very run down. The blinds in my room only came halfway down, and the bathroom blinds had missing slats, so someone on the street could see inside. There was no soap or paper towels in the bathrooms. I don't believe the good reviews, especially the five-star ones, are authentic.

The bathroom was gross. The floor and tub looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months, and the shower had no shower head. The room smelled of mold, had stains on the ceiling and carpet, and two windows weren't sealed properly, so cold air came in all night. It was around 30 degrees during my visit. This is an affordable place in the area, but somehow you get less than you pay for, especially when it comes to cleanliness. Lesson learned. I'll avoid it like the plague.
