EC Motel

The beds are extremely comfortable, and you get a bathtub and a shower, plus a little fridge and microwave. They’ll also let you use the washer and dryer. Rooms are clean, roomy, affordable, and the atmosphere feels safe and quiet. Ralph's and Churches Chicken are within walking distance too. If you’re staying a week or longer, you can negotiate an even better price. I LOVE this place. I almost skipped leaving a review because I wanted to keep this gem to myself.

The rooms were actually pretty nice for the two nights I stayed, but the manager kept my deposit over a wash rag that was mine. I’d used it to clean my expensive road bike, then tossed it. I tried calling the manager, but every time I spoke he hung up on me. They also tried adding a late check-out charge, even though I left at 10:10am. It feels like they’ll use any excuse to keep your deposit, so be careful. Low room price and a high deposit, hoping you do something, that’s their business model. Scam, crooks, beware.

The AC works great now because my husband cleaned the filter, which was packed with grime, dust, smog and other stuff. He got about a gallon of what he called “grease mixture” out of it. We’ve noticed lots of places don’t check their AC filters, even though that can make people sick. Kristye at the front desk was professional and helpful, and even helped with our bags. The new shower is a big plus, as are the fridge and microwave. Other than the filter, it was a great deal with friendly, professional staff. They’re renovating the rooms, so it should only get better. No carpet is a plus!

The receptionist was really nice and willing to answer questions, though one housekeeper was quite rude and impolite. I also wish they accepted cash, but they don’t take it at all. The deposit is way too high, on top of the room fee. Given the area, I was impressed by how clean and updated the place is.
