We ended up cleaning the room ourselves, and were left wondering what else the Ritz isn’t cleaning or replacing between guests, or whether staff change their gloves regularly. It seemed like a broader hygiene problem, since we saw other sanitary concerns at the hotel too. There was what looked like a large clump of hair in the toilet room corner, waste left in the toilet, and some kind of goop on the shower door. The bathroom sink, counters, and floor were covered with what appeared to be the previous guest’s cut facial hair, and there was more scattered around the room. It didn’t look like the surfaces or floors had been cleaned between guests. The hotel apologized and offered 20k Marriott points after our stay, but never answered our follow-up email. For comparison, a single weekend night here costs over 100k points.

The location is excellent, and the hotel wasn’t bad. The room was spacious and clean, but its design felt sterile, and the place came across as corporate rather than truly luxurious. For a Ritz-Carlton, I expected a warmer welcome than the rather impersonal greeting in the busy lobby. You’ll get consistent quality here, but I didn’t find the special touches that would make a stay stand out. Compared with other luxury hotels and Ritz-Carltons I’ve stayed at, it didn’t feel particularly distinctive.

On our last day, Sunday the 28th at lunch, I realized how much this place depends on its people. Ryan and Adriatic at the concierge, Noel and Melissa at the Avery, and many others made our time here wonderful. We’ll definitely come back if we return to Boston. It’s a very good base for seeing the city, with comfortable rooms and great service in a great location. It’s been renovated, though it still feels a little dated in places. That’s the only drawback. We’d certainly stay at the Ritz again.

Ouijdane in the Communications Department made my stay especially memorable. She was professional, thoughtful, and so committed to making everything go smoothly. She anticipated what I might need, handled requests with grace and efficiency, and made me feel valued. People like her are what keep a luxury brand’s reputation strong, and she represents the Ritz-Carlton gold standard so well. The Ritz-Carlton, Boston itself had the comfort, elegance, and hospitality I expected. My stay was exceptional, and if you get to interact with Ouijdane, expect excellent service at every step. This hotel is an easy five-star choice in Boston.

Alberto found our two-year-old son’s backpack and stuffed animal when we checked out, which meant a lot to us. Our son was thrilled when we got home. The Ritz is also a great spot for a weekend away near some of the nicest parts of Boston. The staff are very kind, the location is hard to beat, and the things they offer for kids are a big plus. We’ve stayed at many Ritz properties and really appreciate that. My wife and I stayed here once before too and had a lot of fun. This time, for our anniversary weekend last month, we had a perfect club-level room overlooking the Boston Public Garden.
