We paid a very reasonable rate for such a nice stay at Boulder dam hotel. Our huge room was just above the lobby and furnished with antiques. A little music drifted up from the lounge downstairs, but it stopped at a reasonable hour. We were right downtown, and Boulder City has done a nice job sprucing up the old center. After dinner at the hotel, we enjoyed a stroll.

The beds were warm and we had a couple of cold beers, so it served its purpose. The restaurant bar food left a lot to be desired, and the strangest thing was the bartender rationing beer and whiskey purchases at the main bar. The location is great for getting to the Hoover Dam, though the rooms could use a remodel or two.

We loved the Christmas decorations and the lovely fire in the lobby, and had fun at the speakeasy downstairs. The museum on site was enjoyable too. This is a lovely historic hotel in downtown Boulder City, with very friendly staff and a spacious room. The bathroom was on the small side, which was expected since the hotel was built in the 1930s.

We hadn't planned to stop here, but it ended up being my favorite hotel of the trip. I liked it even more than our room in Vegas. The place has character without feeling sterile or generic, and it was very clean. The room decor, museum, and little art gallery all made it stand out. I only wish we'd had more time here and in the cute little town.

The hotel looks nice from the outside and in the entrance lobby, and it's very convenient for walking around downtown. Those were the only good parts of our stay. Check-in is at 3 p.m., when the much-praised museum closes, and it doesn't open until 9 a.m., after we'd already checked out to get back on the road. At check-in nobody made us feel welcome or told us about the hotel or the live entertainment at the bar downstairs. The check-out was just as inhospitable, and nobody asked how our stay had been. Two wall-mounted heater/AC units made a loud whining sound that kept us from using them. The windows were painted shut, so we couldn't open them for cool evening air. At 6:30 a.m. garbage trucks arrived right below our windows and woke us. There was no bath gel in the shower, and we had to use shampoo instead; the bathroom sink dispenser had no soap either. We were looking forward to staying here, but we definitely won't return or recommend it.
