We stayed here on and off for over a year, and I loved the location. Parking felt safest here, my dog had lots of open space to roam, groceries were within walking distance, and there was a lovely trail and pond on the other side. Grant was my favorite front desk team member, always honest and professional. Billing was never an issue with him. Even when the system was struggling, he followed up and made sure the bill was right. He also handled other needs well. If you have an issue, the manager or Grant will help and take care of business. We were long-term guests, and I used to work in hotels, so I know there is a lot to stay on top of. Smoke and pests happen. Check your room wherever you stay, however nice or expensive it is. Look at the mattress protector and under the sinks. In the Midwest, with the environment, construction, travelers, and pet-friendly rooms, things can sneak in and hide. The manager, cleaning staff, and maintenance team really do try their best. I watched the cleaning and maintenance people do an incredible job keeping up with a busy place for almost a year. A few suggestions for staff: open the hall windows more to air the place out, since it gets musty. Put cleaner and paper towels in the gym so people can wipe down between workouts. Change the kitchen vent filters more often. That could keep long-term rooms from smelling and help prevent the fire alarms from going off so often and disturbing everyone. The alarms hurt dogs' ears and disrupt kids and people with special needs. For travelers, if you can, Wednesday through Friday earlier in the day are the best times to do laundry. Try to bring the carts back, don't leave any trash in your room overnight, and don't put towels or trash in the hallways. That helps everyone and makes your stay nicer. Use the kitchen fan and open the windows if you're cooking something with a strong smell. Your clothes and room will thank you. And Grant is the best, especially when the manager isn't available. Keep pets five feet away and watch them near the nature area behind the hotel. There are coyotes that like to lure them in. If you pay attention, it's fine, but be especially aware with small pets.
