I've stayed two nights of a planned five night trip to Big Sky Ski Resort, and my experience changed quite a bit after talking with the front desk. The King Suite is spacious, with a dining table, and the room is clean and newly renovated. Breakfast has been better than at most Holiday Inn locations, and there's free coffee in the lobby all day. I initially gave the hotel 3 stars because the pool had been closed for “cleaning” since I arrived, and even after 24 hours the hot pool beside it was still unavailable. I was especially disappointed because I'd hoped to use it after snowboarding. Staff said pool cleaning meant the hot pool was closed too, and I couldn't understand why the work was taking more than a day. I'd chosen the hotel after reading reviews that said both pools were available. The TV also isn't connected to the internet, so YouTube and Netflix aren't options. Today, after my second night, I asked again. A very kind receptionist, I think her name was "Izzy", checked with her manager and got the hot pool opened. It sounds like it may not always run in the off-season when usage is low. I was able to enjoy it after snowboarding, which was great, so I've updated my rating to 5 stars and can recommend the hotel. I still have four nights left and plan to update again after the full stay.

Big thanks to the crew working on the night of the 19th. After a white-knuckle drive through Gallatin in a blizzard, the friendly Holiday Inn in Bozeman let us and our dog stay. The newer-looking rooms were clean, and we enjoyed the little breakfast and guest area while chatting with people in town for the Montana college football rivalry game. The location is handy, close to CostCo and I90, but far enough from the road that we couldn't hear it. That made it easy to restock before heading back out to drive the I90 blizzack, or go ice skating, as I almost said. Thanks again to that night's crew.

Breakfast was one of our main reasons for choosing this hotel, and it had lots of options, including plenty of healthy ones for our busy days. The location worked well too, with Target and Costco within walking distance and other shops and restaurants nearby. The inconsistent housekeeping is what made us decide we wouldn't stay again. We were there for 12 days and didn't need daily cleaning. Our first request came after three nights, and the room was cleaned very well. On day seven we asked again, but nobody came. The front desk said they'd notify housekeeping, yet the room still wasn't serviced the next day. Trash built up, so I had to ask for bags and take it out myself. After three days of follow-ups, housekeeping finally came, but did very little: they took the trash, made the bed, and left towels on the bathroom counter. It was disappointing and stressful to keep chasing basic service. The breakfast and location were great, but housekeeping really affected our stay.

A great stay in Bozeman, and the hot tub was well maintained while my room was clean. I got a large suite for the same price as a regular room using my rewards member number. The vendors were great, including the early check-in.

Everything else was clean, fresh, and wonderful, and the staff were gracious. As an early riser with a spouse who isn't, I found the bathroom light and fan on the same switch annoying. The fan was extremely loud and couldn't be turned off without turning off the light.
