Terri at reception is lovely and has a great sense of humor. The breakfast was just okay, though, and the bed needs attention or replacing. It wasn't the sink-in-and-dream kind I'm used to at Marriott properties. The pillows, as always, were a favorite. The room had a strange smell, like someone might have smoked there once. The bathroom is cramped and could use a pocket door, and its floor was so slippery it felt like a slip-and-slide. I don't know what they wash it with, but they need to change it. Also, if the pool has been closed since March, that should be posted on the hotel's home page. I choose hotels for the pool because swimming helps me de-stress, so finding it out of commission was a letdown after a very hard day with a family member in a nearby hospital.

Breakfast comes with the stay, and there's a good range of choices. On the room side, the furniture, microwave, mini-fridge, and other amenities have all worked properly for me, with no blocked shower drains or other such issues. My rooms have been clean and free of unpleasant or tobacco smells. I've stayed at the Fairfield in Bourbonnais, IL multiple times for work, and I've been quite satisfied each time.

The room service never came. We expected basic things like emptied trash and fresh coffee, towels, and washcloths, but none of that was done. The pool was out of order, and breakfast was just okay, nothing special. They put us in an accessible room. I didn't mind, though it seemed like they could have saved it for someone who needed it, since I'm sure other king rooms were available. The hotel itself was okay, but it felt like that side of town was going out of business.
