Alissa was so friendly and attentive in the restaurant area, and the breakfast was probably the best we've had at any Holiday Inn Express. We were upgraded, and our room was clean and smelled great. The lobby looked beautiful with its Christmas tree and holiday decorations, and the whole property was spotless. This is one of the nicest Holiday Inn Express hotels we've stayed at. I'd definitely return; I haven't found another one that compares.
My wife came along this time, and she doesn't like cheap motels. Years ago, a budget place we stayed at in the 90’s left her with ringworm on her foot, and in 2026 she still brings it up. Honestly, you get what you pay for. Holiday Inn costs more, but it really is better, and we enjoyed our stay. We'd been driving back to Temple when it got dark and the roads started icing over again, so we didn't want to risk going farther. The staff were great, the room was nice, and Holiday Inn does a good job with breakfast.
It doesn't feel up to normal Holiday Inn standards, especially with the lobby in its current state. The windows need repair, the pool was green, and the market only took cash for some reason. Sometimes kids staff the counter. When I lost my key, an 8-13 year old made me a new one without asking for ID or any verification. Someone could have gotten anybody's key. Hopefully they can get things back on track.
The mattress was hard as a rock, so getting a good night's sleep was tough. The room was clean and service was decent, and the rest was fine. It wasn't the worst stay, just far from comfortable.
The place was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was free. Parking for trailers or large vehicles is limited.
