Ruttger's Bay Lake Resort

It felt like we had the resort to ourselves since we came in the off season, so I can't speak to peak summer. Our clean, nice cabin had plenty of dishes, and we spent lots of time in the pool and game area and doing the scheduled crafts. The staff were kind and made things more fun with all the small talk. We ate at the restaurant and loved it. Every day we spent at least an hour playing games in front of the gorgeous fireplace in the restaurant lobby. The old pictures of the resort and the family who ran it add a lot of historic charm. We've had an amazing trip and can't wait to plan another.

I was here for a wedding. The location is great, and the reception room was nice with really good food. The halls felt a bit dank, and we had to pass through the pool area to get to the reception. The rooms were large, a little dated, and on the lower end. It was about what I expected, with the food being a welcome plus.

The property is lovely and the staff were pleasant, but check what amenities will actually be available before you book. Several weren't, including the buffet at the well-advertised on-site restaurant and the on-site Antie Ms coffee/ice cream shop. It felt like we had access to the whole resort while it was running with limited staff, maybe because they were resting up for the huge Octoberfest the following week.

We had a few issues with our Villa, but maintenance took care of them right away. The grandkids loved the beautiful beach and having pools or the lake to choose from, and the gorgeous outdoor pool looked especially lovely in the evening. The food has improved a lot, and my birthday dinner was great. Alex and his team have made real improvements to both food quality and service. Friday's seafood boil was outstanding. It was great to see college kids coming back to help out. I brought the whole family for a week to celebrate my birthday, and we think this resort is a gem. Looking forward to coming back next year.
