HYATT house Branchburg / Bridgewater

I paid $147 for two nights, then was charged a $200 smoking fee after checkout, even though nothing was ever lit in our room or elsewhere inside the hotel. My boyfriend and I smoke, but we stepped outside more than 30 times to follow the rules. When I challenged the charge, front desk manager Ashley said she had “proof” and sent pictures of popcorn on the floor, claiming it was ash. Ash is grey or black and white, as anyone who smokes knows. She refunded $50 as a courtesy, so I’m still being charged $150 for something we didn’t do. I asked them to check the cameras to verify how often we went outside. I even smell like smoke from smoking outdoors, which seems to be what I’m being charged for. I spend thousands of dollars a year on hotels and know the rules. I’ve never disrespected them at any hotel. The customer service was the worst, and if you smoke, they may charge you just for your scent. I’ll attach the pictures they sent as “proof”.

My husband and I chose this hotel for our wedding because transportation was included in the room block. After what happened, we wouldn’t recommend it to other couples getting married nearby. At check-in, I learned the “bridal suite” they’d said was reserved for me had already been given away because the booking hadn’t been coordinated with the front desk. Nobody mentioned it until I noticed the room number didn’t match the suite number. We’d shared that number with several vendors, so I spent time that should’ve been relaxing calling people to get everyone and everything to the right place. My parents’ room was missing its TV, though the wires were there, and they were deeply disappointed with nothing to do during wedding downtime. We were also promised 25,000 Hyatt points if we booked at least 10 rooms. We only got the points after repeated requests and are still waiting for them. We brought them over 30 rooms, so you’d think they might have added more points for the business. Looking back, we should’ve considered other hotels.

I booked the Hyatt House in Branchburg at the last minute for what I thought would just be a basic night away. It turned out to be one of my more comfortable and convenient stays in Jersey. The room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed, a good shower pressure, and a kitchenette I ended up appreciating. The lobby felt calm and fresh, and check-in was quick. Staff were friendly in a way that felt genuine. The hotel was quiet without feeling empty or chaotic, and I felt safe. Parking was easy, with no circling around to find a space. In the morning, the complimentary breakfast was fresh and quick, with enough options to get going without looking for food elsewhere. If I’m back in the Bridgewater area, I’d gladly return. Clean rooms, good service, and an easy stay.

I’ve stayed here plenty of times over the years, and the staff are a big reason I keep coming back. Ashley at the front desk, Jess the bartender, and the woman who handles breakfast were all extremely helpful. 10/10, I recommend it.
