The Lilac Inn

The Lilac Inn was such a warm, welcoming place for our wedding, and it made the day feel perfect. Shelly, the owner, was wonderful to work with, and Betsy and the rest of the staff were excellent. They were accommodating, and the food was amazing. We had them take care of everything from Friday's rehearsal through Sunday breakfast. It was a beautiful setting for our wedding.

The photos made us look forward to a night at this beautiful inn, but the actual visit was a shock. The property felt neglected and badly in need of maintenance, with peeling paint and untended gardens outside. We were surprised this place is used as a wedding venue. Our expensive suite was dirty, the air conditioning didn't work, and the furnishings were grimy and frayed. There were paint touch-ups all over our room and the rest of the building too. We were glad to leave.

The gardens are so lovely I didn't want to leave, and the staff and owner were friendly and accommodating. We came back three years later, and it was just as charming and special. Shelly was a perfect host, and Erica and Casey took great care of us. The rooms are distinctive and comfortable. I love getting personal service in such a historic place instead of staying at a hotel. Sitting with coffee on the front porch was a treat. It's so European it hardly feels like a porch. We'll be back!

Our wedding here this week was absolutely perfect, and our guests loved the venue. The food was incredible. We asked for a fully vegan menu with a Southern comfort food feel, and every dish delivered. Everyone on staff was kind and professional, and they worked hard to make our few days there go smoothly and beautifully. Thank you!
