Residence Inn by Marriott Branson

We were there for a quick stay with our family of six and didn’t try breakfast either morning. The hotel is older, with old appliances in the room and wallpaper peeling or bubbling in several places. The carpet was damp when we arrived, and the bathroom floors weren’t clean. The walls are thin too. We could hear a dog barking two doors away, people singing in the halls, and others talking loudly.

The staff were great when we arrived, and the one-bedroom room was nice. The door handle was a bit odd to use, and you had to open it a particular way to get into the room. There was a small tear in the carpet, and the bathroom door hinge was off so the door didn’t close properly. I didn’t ask maintenance to fix it because I just wanted to enjoy the vacation.

We won’t stay here again. Our reservation couldn’t be found when we arrived, and they said they’d adjust the price because of the mix-up, but that never happened. Breakfast was cooked one morning and served in packages the next, which felt like little effort. When my cousin went back for more food, a staff member yelled at her in front of other guests about the table being messy, even though she was returning to it. The front desk sided with the employee when my cousin complained, despite not having seen what happened.

We’ve stayed at other Residence Inns and have generally been happy, but we chose this one because we couldn’t get into our usual place at Willow Ridge during the busy season. It’s being remodeled, and the property feels a bit worn, probably from all the summer traffic. The room door was difficult to open from inside, which felt like a safety concern, and the staff were told about it. The toilet seemed new but was loose, and the carpet between the bedroom and bathroom was pretty frayed. I’d expected more of the renovation to be underway. Construction made the stay a little difficult, though I know they’re working to improve things.
