Econo Lodge Cherry Point

Do not stay here. I was in town for work and saw roaches, black mold, and bed bugs. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The staff were horrible, and the way I was treated felt like it was about race. This place needs to be shut down. The Board of Health should check out that mold.

We were locked out of our room and went to the front desk, where the woman treated us rudely and barely spoke to us. In the morning, housekeeping knocked. I politely asked where to dispose of my medication sharps because I didn’t want anyone to get poked. The woman looked disgusted and confused, cut me off with “What do you need-”, so I just asked for towels instead. After I shut the door and looked at my partner, they saw the workers mocking me through the peephole and gesturing at me. One younger person on the cleaning staff was very nice to us. I regretted staying the second night and left before the cleaners came around again. The room was okay apart from black mold and an unfinished paint job in the shower area. I’d also heard my sister’s story about a worker chasing her out of the parking lot, and she’d told people not to go there. She was supposed to get a discount for family staying there for her wedding, but they gave her a hard time and never followed through. I should’ve listened. If customer service matters to you, I don’t recommend this place at all. It’s not worth the price.

I was in the shower when I finally started reading the reviews, after noticing several strange odors and plenty of bugs. Then I saw bed bugs, and that was it. I’d been enjoying the idea of a clean bed in a cool room after a shower, but quickly packed up and left when I realized what I was dealing with. My girlfriend spent the next 12 hours fumigating our car and belongings so we wouldn’t carry them elsewhere. We lost a day and spent a lot at the car wash, laundromat, and Lowe’s, along with having several heated conversations. Don’t expect a refund or even an apology. The response seemed rehearsed, though almost believable. The owners supposedly are never there, but I think they’re the same people posing as front desk clerks. Shame on them, the Econo Lodge corporation for allowing this year after year, and whoever signed off on the Craven County health inspection. Try the Havelock Inn or Quality Inn instead. I’m usually generous with ratings and have never given a business less than a 3, so even these 2s feel generous. I made the mistake of not reading reviews before checking in.

The receptionist was very sweet, which was the only thing I liked. I stayed because it was the only place available, but the hotel smelled bad and the room was disgusting. The shower, microwave, and carpet were filthy, and the phone didn’t work. I wouldn’t recommend it.
