Baymont by Wyndham Fargo

We really liked the convenient courtyard and dog area, which our downstairs room opened onto. The room was spacious and clean, though we spotted a couple of carpet stains. We had a dog with us and figured another pet had been there before. IYKYK. The hot tub was just the right temperature, and the pool area never got overcrowded. Online check-in and checkout were handy, and we’d recommend the hotel. The first room had several problems: no water at the sink, a flickering bathroom light, an oversized bed platform, and Wi-Fi that wouldn’t connect. I told the front desk, and a maintenance worker went to investigate right away. The front desk staff member moved us to another room, and both were very apologetic and accommodating. Our overall stay was good. It wasn’t five-star, but it was a safe, comfortable place to sleep. Breakfast was delicious, though on Sunday, the second morning, they’d run out of biscuits for biscuits and gravy and waffle mix by 8:20. The decor looks old, but they may be updating or fixing things. Nothing about it would stop us from staying again.

We planned to stay one night and ended up staying five. The staff were polite, friendly, and helpful from arrival to checkout. The free breakfast was great, with plenty to choose from, and served in a cute old western-style bar across from the front desk. There’s also a pool and, I think, a hot tub, though we didn’t go check them out. The hotel has a bar and casino with bingo and meat raffles. My favorite part was the little courtyards. We had a downstairs room with a door right onto one. The location worked well, with restaurants and shops nearby and the interstate just a block away. It’s far enough from traffic that we didn’t get the noise, but close enough to get on the road easily. The neighborhood felt completely safe. One of us dropped a debit card getting out of the vehicle one night, and thankfully it was still in the exact same spot the next morning. I’d recommend this place to people passing through or needing a longer stay.

We booked three nights but left after two because the room smelled so bad. The toilet overflowed onto the floor, ran nonstop afterward, and they brought us towels for the carpet instead of moving us to another room. The room was in terrible shape. While packing to go, I found a pipe for smoking marijuana under the bed with some marijuana still in it. A Motel 6 would’ve been much better. Lesson learned, never again!

It was a quiet place to sleep, and the room was okay. The hotel is dated but being remodeled, and the outside needs maintenance and updating too. Finding the rooms was confusing, so they should give clearer directions. Some lamp USB outlets didn’t work. We missed breakfast, so I can’t comment on it.
