What made this motel special for me was the family who run it. They were so kind and helpful when I had trouble with my internet connection, and again when I realized I’d left my glasses in the room. It made traveling, and life, feel easier and nicer, so thank you for being the way you are. The motel is also good value, with clean, spacious rooms and a handy location near downtown and the district theater.

We slept well after a long day driving from Proper, Texas. The bed was large and comfortable, and the room was very clean, with a quaint bathroom. It also had a small refrigerator, microwave, and television with Direct -tv. The motel is a bit out of the way, though it’s close to Bob Evans restaurant.

The staff seemed nice, and the price was affordable, but I couldn’t handle the smell. I asked to see a room first. The bedding looked older and dull, and from what I could see it seemed clean, but the odor made me rush straight back out without going all the way inside. It smelled like pet urine or something. I wouldn’t recommend these rooms because of that.

We didn’t even stay. After going in, it took about 30 minutes for us to discover bed bugs, blood on the sheets, a rusty shower head, and a horrible smell. The office policy said no refunds after an hour, but they still refused to return our money. The owner wouldn’t answer Booking.com’s calls or check his email while we stood there. I’m extremely displeased and disgusted.

The couple who run Walnut Lane Motel take real pride in the place. Our room was clean and spacious, and the stay was amazing. Finding this little gem has made me feel like these mom-and-pop motels deserve our business much more than the big chains. I won’t stay at another “name brand” hotel.
