Victorian Palace

During the two months we stayed, the hallway was never cleaned, and the landscaping was neglected. The room wasn’t clean when we moved in, and the maintenance guy was very unfriendly. Weekly inspections meant two creepy guys barged in to look around. Water would also get shut off without notice when we tried to shower during the day.

This place is actually called The View. It’s a little run down, but the owner is doing his best to fix it up. The people are super nice, gracious, and easy to work with, and it’s clean. My family is really grateful for this place.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating, but the room was awful and looked nothing like the photos online. The carpet was lumpy, stained, and gross, the walls and ceiling were peeling, and there wasn’t even a blanket when we arrived. We spent another $30 on cleaning supplies before we felt safe touching anything. It should have been clean already. Doors kept slamming until midnight and started again at 7 a.m. We paid for two nights and stayed the first one so the money wouldn’t go to waste, but this morning I decided to pay for somewhere else instead of staying in a place this scuzzy. We won’t be back.

For $49 a night, the room was perfectly fine for what I expected. I stayed five nights without any issues. The building is old and needs updating, but the room wasn’t dirty or gross. It was clean, didn’t smell bad, and smelled a bit like cleaning products, which I don’t mind. The microwave and mini-fridge were well kept, and the bed was reasonably comfortable with clean linens. The walls were a little thin and the plumbing noisy, but not enough to complain about. I’m not a breakfast person, so I didn’t try the food.
