Motel 6 Brattleboro

At around $180 a night, I expected better than a filthy room with hair everywhere, stained towels, and loud air conditioning. And if this is supposed to be a non-smoking motel, rooms that smell like ashtrays shouldn't be rented out. They should be ashamed. I hope the proper authorities step in and shut down this unhealthy place.

I finally got a room after more than half an hour, but only after being sent to two rooms that were already occupied. Room 207 had other people's belongings all over it. Then the key for 106 failed six times before they realized someone was inside. The room I ended up in looked clean, but didn't feel clean, and there was no chair. The AC was so loud that watching TV with it on was pointless. I arrived late on Sunday, and this was unlike anything I've run into after staying in hundreds of hotels around the country and world. The next night, I gave them another try and booked through the app, choosing pay later because it explicitly said no prepayment was required. The hotel charged my card anyway. When I called, they were unapologetic, rude, combative, and brash. I had to involve booking to get a refund. Even after they confirmed the cancellation, the money still hadn't been released five days later. Two weeks in, I was still waiting. This is the worst hotel in Southern Vermont/New Hampshire. I got the refund on day 16, after posting a one star Google review, filing a bbb complaint, complaining to wyndham hotels and booking.com, and wasting more than two hours. The one star review still stands. I can't recommend this place any less. Don't stay here unless you want someone else's room or difficult, incompetent staff.

We usually pick better hotels, but this Travelodge was above average for the brand. It was clean, and everything worked. It's just a Travelodge.

The staff were friendly and happy, and the shower got properly hot. The sheets, floor, and bathroom were very clean; the room also had a microwave and fridge, and the AC put out plenty of cold air. There are a few rough edges, but it's a great place to stay if those don't bother you. Bring your own coffee, though.
