Chase Suites Hotel Brea-Fullerton

The room was roomy, the kitchen was useful, and the area felt safe. I liked being able to walk to Whole Foods, Reborn coffee, and the restaurants in the plaza, and there’s a big dog park up the road for off-leash time. It was comfortable and convenient, and the rate seemed reasonable. The pet-friendly setup was a real plus. Still, I left disappointed and might choose somewhere else next time. I paid well over $1,000 for several nights, and there were too many problems with cleanliness and upkeep. The room smelled musty when I arrived, the counters had spots, the floors didn’t feel clean, and there was calcium around the shower faucet. The mirror had odd circles showing through from the back, which I couldn’t explain and found gross. The tub-to-shower lever broke off when I tried to shower. I was late for a meeting while it was fixed, and had to wait outside with my dogs for what felt like forever. The toilet ran day and night even after I tried adjusting the lever. The bathroom light flickered, and my laundry came out smelling awful after using the washer and dryer. For the price, these maintenance issues weren’t acceptable. A hotel should at least be clean and in working order, even if the decor is dated. Service added to the frustration. I told the concierge I had dogs and asked her to send someone comfortable around them to fix the shower lever. The person who came seemed afraid of them and a bit annoyed that I had them. I’d also already disclosed the dogs at check-in, but later, when I went to do laundry, the concierge accused me of hiding pets without asking first. I was offended by that assumption. Housekeeping left dirty rags on the counter, and the dishes they had “washed” still had soggy food stuck to them. The lack of attention was pretty appalling.
