The location at Crystal Peak is fantastic, but the rental units and service were terrible. We rented both a three-bedroom and a two-bedroom, and neither came close to what we expected. The rooms hadn’t been cleaned properly, and they lacked appliances and supplies. Lots of things were broken or missing: furniture and fixtures were gone, the kitchen lights didn’t work, the shower heads were clogged, windows were broken, the rugs were filthy and stained, and the blinds were broken. We even found old food in the sofa. Our complaints got no response, either. The website photos don’t show what the units are really like. We definitely won’t be back.

After more than 15 years of staying at Crystal Peak Lodge, we’ve watched the rooms get more and more neglected. My wife and I won’t stay there again, and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Management also seems to have almost no interest in fixing or replacing problems in the rooms.

During the week I stayed here, my car was vandalized twice in the secure underground garage. The security team were kind and professional when I contacted them, but nobody ever followed up. I’m frankly surprised Vail Resorts hasn’t taken this more seriously.

The room was quiet, nicely laid out and furnished, and had a pleasant balcony. The check-in arrangement was less convenient: I was told there was no front desk service at this hotel in summer, so I had to check in at the affiliate hotel down the road. The staff there were very friendly and helpful. The coffee maker didn’t work properly. I was charged a $200.00 damage deposit on 7/22, and on 8/2 it still hadn’t come off my credit card. At least staff had warned me about it.

Our 10-month-old got a cold less than 10 hours after the cancellation deadline for our six-day Breckenridge stay. After talking with our pediatrician, who recommended we NOT travel to such a high elevation, we contacted Expedia right away to ask the property for an exception to its cancellation policy. Crystal Peak Lodge kept avoiding Expedia’s calls, then took a full 24 hours to deny the request. It was a huge disappointment. I’ll make sure people I know traveling to Breckenridge don’t book with properties owned by this management group. They could have turned an unfortunate situation into a positive experience, but made it worse instead. I know policies exist for a reason, but leadership can still use discretion. Crystal Peak Lodge showed us its management team are managers, NOT leaders. There’s a difference.
