We had a lovely two-night stay at the historic 1788 Inn in Breezewood, PA. Scott and Cathy were warm, accommodating hosts, including with special dietary needs. When we arrived, Scott was cooking down maple syrup they'd just tapped from the trees on the property. There are plenty of fine dining options a short drive away in Bedford. A great getaway for a weekend or another time.

Scott and Cathy are wonderfully accommodating, and we slept comfortably in the cozy room. Breakfast was nicely balanced, and there was lots of interesting history about the place and its owners. It's on a busy road, but the traffic didn't disturb our sleep. This was our second visit, and I hope to come back. Thanks, Scott and Cathy!

Scott and Cathy made us feel so welcome, and arriving a little early was no problem. Cathy had made maple syrup from the trees on the property, which we tried at breakfast the next morning and loved. Scott showed us around the inn and our room, and told us about its history and the area. There was a good range of wine, beer and soda in the breakfast room fridge, plus fruit and cheese platters before we went out to Jean Bonnett, a local restaurant Scott recommended. We were one of just two couples staying in the four-room B&B that early March weekend, so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. We stayed in the "good intent" room and loved its steam shower. Breakfast was a lot and really good: fruit cup, fresh muffins, egg frittatas with vegetables and cheese, waffles with homemade maple syrup, potatoes and bacon. The other couple had dietary restrictions, and Cathy made the woman vegan food that she said was very good. We highly recommend spending a night or two with Scott and Cathy at the 1788 Inn.

My wife and I stayed at the inn on our way east and were impressed by the hospitality from Scott and Cathy Lloyd. They were so generous and accommodating that we felt like friends. There was complimentary tea, coffee, beer and wine, along with homemade cookies, especially the bourbon ones, and other treats. Fireplaces and Christmas decorations added to the cozy feel. The inn and surrounding area have a long history. I hadn't realized there were so many small forts from the French and Indian War or connections with a younger George Washington, so there was plenty to see and read about. The owners clearly care about the inn, and that comes through in the restoration photos, publications about the area and property, and conversations. Breakfast was generous, with seconds offered, and they accommodated our different diets: I'm vegetarian and my wife isn't. It was the best meal we've had at a B&B or hotel.

The bedrooms were noisy and let in outside light, which was the one drawback. Cathy and Scott were excellent hosts who went out of their way to make us comfortable and welcome. The facilities were top-line, and the food was amazing.
