The buffet breakfast was nice, and the gym was good too, though it could use a bike. But after many stays here with our family, often for longer stretches because of the two-bedroom studio, this was our last time. We were in room 331 across from reception, with a storage closet outside. An air compressor kicked on at midnight each night and sounded like construction right outside. Reception acted very casual about it, saying it happens and offering to move us. We checked the other room first, but its beds squeaked as soon as you touched them. The hotel badly needs refurbishing. The soaps left our skin very dry and didn't smell nice, and we could hear people smoking and talking in the parking lot outside all night.

For my business meeting, the location couldn't have worked better. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, though you'll need a car unless you're ordering delivery. It was my first stay at this location, but I know the brand and found it about as expected. The property feels established while the rooms are modern. My first-floor room had a bathtub and a window overlooking the back lot. The kitchen had all the appliances you'd have at home, and the clean linens were comfortable. Breakfast was included, with eggs, sausage, quiche or croissant sandwiches, waffles, oatmeal and toppings, yogurt, fruit, and bagels with a toaster. They also had coffee, juice, and cold milk. I'd recommend TownPlace Suites by Marriott Ft. Worth South.

The desk staff were very kind, but checking our group in took nearly an hour because the hotel wasn't ready for us. We had booked five double queen rooms and got only three. They initially wanted our players to share one queen bed and a pullout couch. Eventually they gave us a connecting room, so everyone had queen beds, with two guys sharing each bed. The single queen room was comped, but we were charged the double queen rate for the two single queen rooms, a $150 overcharge. The breakfast room couldn't seat the whole team, and the selection was poor for what we paid. The beds were inconsistent too. Mine sagged in the middle and was very uncomfortable.

The stay began normally, but the musty room, poor service, a wasp or hornet, and a jackhammer-like noise at midnight made it unbearable. When I called the front desk, I was laughed at and offered a move, but nobody came to check what was happening. For the next few days we tried to make another plan and get some sense from the staff, and the service and clientele made the situation clear. I can't understand why a customer in a service business has to come up with the solutions. It all came to a head on Christmas Day, for all the wrong reasons. We've stayed at this TownePlace many times, but this may have been the last. Avoid it, and if you do stay, don't choose a room near 331.
