Hampton Inn Brevard

Peak leaf-peeping season in N.C. and our cabin booking had fallen through, so we were grateful Hampton Inn had a room available at the last minute and saved our 5-year anniversary plans. They also welcomed our Great Dane pup, which was amazing. She loved getting attention and treats from the hotel staff. Lifesavers, thank you!

The manager was respectful and so professional. I think her name was Shauna, or something like that. We had to cancel in the middle of the night because it was a little too far for us to drive with our two small kids. The first employee I spoke with said I wouldn’t be charged, but when I checked my bank statement, the full room charge was there. A few days later, the manager called back and offered to refund it even though I’d missed the cutoff time. With a 4-year-old and a 7-month-old, I was freaking out about how I’d get that $271 back. I really appreciate how understanding she was. We visit Brevard pretty often and will definitely stay at this hotel in the future!

There was a stinkbug in the room, though that’s par for the course in the Carolinas. The bigger issue was the “green” Verdant thermostat. I set the room to cool down before going to the park, but when I got back, it had reset to a high temperature. It limits how low you can set it and uses a motion sensor, so the unit shuts off when you leave, or even when you’re in the room but still, like when sleeping. Any hotel using these thermostats will get a 1 from me from now on. They barely service the rooms anymore, so the least they could do is let guests be comfortable.

The room was quiet and very comfortable, and we enjoyed the breakfast, along with the woman who prepared it. The staff were excellent, friendly, and efficient. Brevard Hampton Inn met everything we needed during our three-night trip to see the area’s waterfalls.
