The Sunset Motel

The cottage behind the main motel felt like home, with retro decor, great cleanliness, and every convenience and detail. Before we arrived, we called the owner to check in and got that top-notch Southern hospitality you hear about. The backyard has several fire pits and hammocks tucked among a quiet, beautiful canopy of trees. From check-in to check-out, the place had it all. It’s an amazing hidden gem in the North Carolina mountains, and Sunset Motel helped create a memory my family and I will carry for a lifetime.

My favorite part was the backyard, with a fire pit, several seating spots, and hammocks beneath beautiful mature trees. The location was handy too, with several restaurants within two blocks. There was some traffic noise until around 11 because of the nearby intersection. It’s a great little place, well kept, with very clean rooms and bright, cheerful mid-century decor, including a record player and vinyl. We’d definitely stay again with our fur baby.

The rooms are really cute, with adorable retro decor, and the mattresses and bedding were very comfortable. The walls are thin, so you can hear sounds from next door. Luckily, our neighbors were quiet, and we had a great stay.

I love our quiet mornings on the porch with a cup of coffee, and the staff are friendly and accommodating. We always bring our pup, who can run around and play frisbee in the big grassy area out back. The Sunset Motel is a perfect step back in time while still having modern comforts. The retro rooms are spotless, with super-comfy beds and excellent AC. Looking forward to our next stay!
