Colonial Manor Motel

We needed a room at the last minute and were glad to find one. It was big and clean, with a comfortable bed. The huge pictures looking out over the water and landscape by the dock were especially meaningful to me, and I’ll remember them. Thanks to everyone at Colonial Manor Motel for being so hospitable. I’d highly recommend it.

Room 201 was pretty decent for a road trip stop. The balcony was nice, the refrigerator and microwave worked, the smell was okay, and the TV was fine. The door has some cracks and the air conditioning was iffy. We’d stayed at another hotel before this one that reeked of cigarettes, so the worker there even let us check the room before paying. Update: This morning, a worker asked me to take down my photo of the cracked door because it looked ugly. They said they’ll remodel eventually. I’ll remove it, but people have complained about that door before. One review even said they weren’t allowed to hang a blanket over the cracks. Have a good day.

The young woman at the desk was kind and polite. When I asked the man there for a receipt so I could get reimbursed for the room, he said, "receipts are for me". The property is old and worn, which I understand, but it should still be clean. My room was very dirty.

The beds were comfortable, and the $57 price was about the only other acceptable thing. The room smelled so horrible it nearly knocked me over when I walked in. The air unit was off, and in 100° heat it couldn’t cool the room down. The front desk guy was very nice until they made us remove the blanket we’d put over the door to block heat coming through the cracks in the frame. If you can put up with a dirty, smelly, hot room for a possible one-night stop, fine. Otherwise, don’t stay here. Best western is down the road.
