Holiday Inn Bridgeport-Trumbull-Fairfield

We’d happily stay at this Holiday Inn again. The room had a practical layout with plenty of space to get around our luggage, and I especially liked that the sink was separate from the toilet and shower. There was a good-sized closet too. The lobby felt welcoming but businesslike, with the restaurant right there. The restaurant was so-so, though it was late on a Saturday and the lobby was otherwise empty, so maybe I’m judging it too harshly. Overall, it was a really nice hotel.

Our three nights at the Holiday Inn in Bridgeport, CT were great. The room was secure, spacious, and immaculate, and the quality of service exceeded what we expected. We’ll plan to stay at this lovely hotel whenever we’re in Bridgeport. Booking online was simple and quick, and the nightly price compared well with other area hotels. Staff were courteous, professional, and helpful with local suggestions. Check-in and checkout were easy too. Breakfast isn’t included, but you can add it for $5 per person, and we thought the deal was worth it. Parking in the garage is $10 per day; metered street parking nearby is another option. Room service is offered daily, or you can request fresh linens, towels, and amenities as needed during your stay. There are also a weight room, dining-in and room service, a coffee station and lounge in the lobby, a business center, laundry room, ice, and vending machines. I believe the pool is closed at the moment, possibly due to COVID-19 health restrictions.

The beds were genuinely comfortable, the TVs were newer, and the rooms were clean enough and seemed recently updated. The staff were friendly too. Still, the room remodel felt unfinished, with wallpaper bubbles, uneven paint, and frayed, rough edges on the newer carpets. Breakfast and parking in the secure garage cost extra. I’d call it a very good, but not great, stay, around 3.5 stars. Fine for a weekend business trip, though I wouldn’t pick it for a family vacation.

The staff were very nice and helpful, which was a bright spot, but there are serious problems here for what the hotel costs. Staffing seems to be an issue. We waited more than 45 minutes for food after ordering breakfast, and it looked like the hostess and one waitress were also cooking. That was miserable and seems like a management problem. The pool was drained and out of order. The hallway to my room was hot and steamy, and smelled of mildew and chemicals. Guest services only turn over your room every five days. There was a cushion missing in the lobby, and the cushions that were there were stained.
