Motel 6 Bridgeview, IL

We weren't sure what to expect from this little motel, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the beds and rest of the room were clean and comfortable. The bathtub was clean too, though it could use replacing. The rooms are sparse, but that was fine for the low price. It's near the edge of an industrial area and felt a little sketchy on arrival, though once inside it was better. It was quiet and conveniently located for what we needed.

The woman at the front desk was kind and genuinely tried to help, but the male staff member wasn't helpful. The room was filthy, with a dirty tub and toilet, and the mini-fridge I had specifically paid for was missing. Guests next door were extremely loud from the time I checked in around 8:00 PM. I reported it several times and explained I had to get up at 6:00 AM, but nothing changed and the noise carried on. I couldn't sleep, so I had to check out around 11:00 PM, just two or three hours after arriving. I lost about $70. Staff did nothing to address the problems, and the stay was a horrible waste of money.

The room smelled awful and had only a queen bed, even though our other room was a king and we'd paid extra to upgrade to the jacuzzi suite. Then a huge cockroach crawled up the wall. We killed it, put it in a cup, and took it to the front desk the next morning. The phone in the room didn't work, so I had already brought the roach to ZULEMA VARGAS, the manager on duty, but she did nothing. JACQUELINE RODRIGUEZ, the General manager, also refused any compensation. Neither manager apologized once. The elevator was loud all night because our room was right next to it. When I complained, ZULEMA laughed and said she couldn't move the elevator. Both managers were rude and unprofessional, and wouldn't help resolve anything. The motel is disgusting and roach infested, and the guest service was terrible. I called the corporate office right after checking out, but could only leave a message. I still haven't heard back.

We had no service for the room, and nobody explained how things worked. Coffee is out from 6-10am, and there's no microwave in the room, just a shared one in a common area. The location suited us for visiting family and friends in Chicago and the south suburbs. Still, I probably wouldn't stay again. You get what you pay for: it wasn't awful, but it wasn't great either. We booked for ten days and called ahead about refrigerators. They said there were some, but didn't mention you had to request one and pay $5 per day. We stayed in two rooms. The first was usable, but on day five there was a roach on the toilet and another on the bed. Staff moved us to a second room that was more worn. It's a bare-bones place, with nowhere comfortable to sit in the rooms. Dogs are allowed, and there were more than we expected. Barking and dogs fighting woke us several times. The hotel seems to house some guests long term as well as serve travelers, so expect to see people carrying large bags of belongings. If that bothers you, this won't be a good fit.
