Pleasant Mountain Inn

The only decent part was the cleaning staff. The owners and other staff were rude and unhelpful. Our room, air conditioning, and bedding all felt old, dusty, and musty, and the food is better avoided. The towels were so thin they felt like an old gym sock. I can't see any reason to stay here unless it's the very last option.

It was quiet, clean, and came with fresh towels. The heat worked, and paying ahead meant we could arrive late, which was useful. But the place is way overpriced for what you get. Our room had bare-bones furniture, an uncomfortable bed, one chair at the table for two, and two broken lamps. Even though we'd checked in and paid already, the heat was still set to 50 when we got there. The office opened ten minutes late, at 8:10 instead of 8, then they started making coffee, so it wasn't ready until 8:30. The family two rooms down seemed to be living there. At $50, I might give it four stars, but I've stayed in rooms three times nicer for $40 less. Stay here only if it's your only option.

The sports bar on site was the highlight for us. The food was great, there was a good choice of dishes and beer, and the live music the night we went was really good. There's also an open bar space and a game room with pool, air hockey, and other games. It was handy to eat and have a drink, then walk straight to our room. For the price, the room was decent, nothing fancy but clean, and the customer service was really great.

The food itself was a mixed bag. My burger was very good, while the others thought their meals were just okay, and several menu items weren't available. Friday's dinner was advertised with live music, but there wasn't any. On Saturday morning the lobby was locked, even though free coffee was advertised. That night the restaurant was dark and closed, despite the lit open sign, and there were hardly any cars in the lot. Back in our deluxe room, the air conditioning had quit, and neither the microwave nor fridge worked. I called the number we'd been given, which was the restaurant, but no one answered since it was closed. Another number reached a man who said there'd been a death in the family and he'd had to leave. I said I was sorry, then he demanded to know what I wanted. When I mentioned the AC, he rudely asked why I'd need it when it was 40 degrees outside. I started to explain that the room was stuffy, but couldn't mention the other problems before he hung up. The fireplace in the room didn't work either, and nobody had told us. This was very disappointing and definitely overpriced. I'll never stay again and wouldn't recommend it. How can a motel operate with no staff around to help paying guests?
