Best Western Plus Hudson Hotel & Suites

Rosie and Briana made my three weeks at the Best Western Plus in Hudson, Colorado feel a lot more like home. They were welcoming every time I came through the door, always kind and positive, and went out of their way to check that things were going well. Those small chats and greetings make a real difference when you're away for a while. I was there for nearby school, and the hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and consistently well kept, so it was easy to settle in after class. I really appreciated how they treated guests. If you're staying in Hudson, I'd recommend the Best Western Plus.

That coffee bar machine was a bonus, it makes everything from espresso shots to flavored lattes. The breakfast was well stocked, and the roads were clean. This place is right off the highway, convenient for truckers, with a Love's just across the parking lot. The staff were always friendly and helpful. OMG, I'll definitely be back.

The room was clean, spacious, and had pretty much everything a traveler needs: hair dryer, iron and board, closet with hangers, a big desk and rolling chair, dresser, kitchenette cabinets, microwave, good-sized fridge, and Keuring. I especially liked the extra lit shelf and cabinet space. The lobby, reception, and dining areas were roomy and nice. Laundry is available on three of the four floors, and there’s a business center with two large-screen desktops, printers, fax, and copying. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are out all day and night, and there’s a small store for sundries. The front desk also had complimentary toiletries like disposable razors and shower caps if you ask. It’s a quaint property in a small town off I76, about 40 miles northeast of Denver, and surprisingly quiet. As an OTR trucker taking a break from the truck, I really appreciated having a comfortable, friendly, clean room. Rosie was very accommodating and friendly at check-in, and her genuine kindness meant a lot. Thanks, Best Western Hudson, keep it up! I do want to call out Karen and Darren. To Brian, who complained about truck noise: this property is off the main highway and has a huge yellow “Love’s TRUCK STOP” sign nearby. Maybe plan better. America would crumble without truckers, literally. I haven’t heard any traffic noise myself. And being upset over a $3 charge you didn’t notice when booking? That seems petty. And Tara, the Diamond member upset about not getting bottled water and having to walk with her kids to the truck stop, that complaint seemed petty too. Did you ask for the water at check-in? As a mother, how do you travel with kids without water? They were thirsty, but you waited until checking in to give them water, then complained because you felt entitled to it. Just wow. Some people could win the lottery and still gripe about having to pick up the check. UPDATE: Breakfast was fine, about what you'd expect, nothing spectacular. One suggestion: housekeeping pounding on the door nearly two hours before checkout is really annoying. I answered, but they kept knocking loudly without saying a word. I had the DND sign outside, and that's not okay. Also, at all hotels, housekeeping really needs to pull beds away from the walls and clean back there.

The stay was fine, but two things kept it at four stars for me. There’s a $3 nightly “hotel service” fee on the bill that wasn’t shown when booking, which feels like a sneaky way to raise the rate. I hate that. Also, the hotel faces a very busy road, and trucks use engine brakes constantly. It’s loud there all day and night.
