Hampton Inn Brighton

We came looking for a warm pool and a really hot hot tub to escape the winter cold, and both were just right. The free breakfast was delicious, and our room was super clean. The pool deck and pool bathrooms could use more cleaning, though. We’ll definitely come back!

The location is the only thing this hotel has going for it, and it still wasn’t worth the stay. Our comforter was visibly dirty when my husband and I checked in, and I overheard staff saying they used makeup wipes on comforter stains instead of replacing them. Harriett, a housekeeper, spent more time gossiping and talking badly about coworkers than doing her job, in my experience. Staff were rude and hostile, and seemed not to care about guests or each other. The place felt poorly maintained, with many things not working and little seeming to be looked after. Don’t be taken in by the appearance or location. This was a complete failure, and I wouldn’t recommend spending your time or money here.

The staff conversations were easy to hear through the thin walls, including disrespectful remarks about guests. We also overheard talk suggesting makeup wipes were being used on comforter stains to cut down on laundry. Some staff seemed overwhelmed during their shifts, and I saw one person crying, which made me feel awful for her. On top of that, we found hairs in the shower and stains on the bedding. My family and I have stayed here before, but this visit felt unsanitary, disorganized, and not very welcoming.

I’ve stayed here before and thought it was a nice place, but this visit was frustrating. It was 10 outside and the room felt about 30 when I arrived, with no heat on. After I turned it on, 40 minutes passed and it was still cold. The desk said it was a cost-saving measure and would warm up in 15 minutes, but it seemed obvious they hadn’t checked how long that actually takes. I have 10 stays in this area next year for treatment, and I don’t need this kind of hassle. If they’re trying to save money, they should get rooms warm before check-in. It didn’t feel welcoming or customer-friendly, and I won’t be back.
