We came as two military personnel with our family to attend our daughter's/cadet's graduation. What should have been a joyful, memorable occasion was ruined by our experience with manager Cindy Albano at the Hampton Inn & Suites San Antonio–Downtown/Market Square. From the start, she was rude, impatient, and unprofessional. Without a valid reason, she canceled three of our four rooms, leaving us scrambling for a place to stay. She was aggressive and disrespectful, slamming doors and refusing to help, and escalated things instead of resolving them. She called the police. We have video of how we were treated, and the situation became serious and inappropriate enough that we filed a complaint with the police agency ourselves. We were also charged twice for the rooms. Instead of celebrating with our family and honoring our service member, we had to urgently find somewhere else. Booking an Airbnb at the last minute turned out to be the best decision; we finally had some peace after the nightmare. This went far beyond poor customer service. It was humiliating, disrespectful, and unacceptable, especially for a military family there to support their child's service to the country. I'm extremely disappointed and will never book with Hilton again. I'd strongly warn others to think twice about this location if they expect basic respect and professionalism.

The staff worked hard to keep everything running smoothly, and the rates were affordable. The location was great, and the building and rooms were clean and well maintained. At checkout, my autistic son got separated from us while we were loading luggage into the elevator. Adrian was a huge help in getting us reunited. Thanks for making the trip so good!

I come to San Antonio once a month and this is always my pick. It's right in the heart of the city, and the customer service is great. The staff are friendly, especially James. Thanks for having such a good team.

The spacious rooms were the only highlight. Parking was awful, with potholes, uneven lines, and not enough spaces for a hotel this size. It costs $12 a night, though the business next door charges less. It feels greedy. Hampton Inn breakfast is usually one of the perks I look forward to, and it's why I book with them so often, but here it was a letdown. The food was bland, the sausage patties looked undercooked, and the bread, bagels, and muffins were rock hard. The cleaning ladies were very nice and brought clean towels each morning, but the rest of the stay raised concerns. The elevators felt like something from a Final Destination movie. The second one stopped working on our second night, and the first one groaned and seemed to surge, like the power was repeatedly cutting in and out. I took the very hot stairwell from the fourth floor to the first for the rest of the trip. Then the fire alarm suddenly blared in the morning. I grabbed my shoes and headed out. First I saw cleaning staff gathering by the elevators, despite the sign saying not to use them during a fire. I looked for the stairs and told them to follow me. The alarm stopped, and they went back to work. Downstairs, staff acted as if nothing had happened and asked how they could help. I asked whether we needed to evacuate and if everything was okay. They said the AC had temporarily gone down and triggered the alarm. My partner, who had been downstairs before it started, was told that one of their guys had accidentally turned it on. I don't know which explanation was true, but they need to communicate better. The outlets on our room lamps also didn't work. I hope nothing serious happens there, since staff didn't seem informed about emergency procedures. I'm typing this on the bumpy ride home, so forgive the typos. Save your money and book elsewhere.

My family and I left and found other accommodations. Manager Cindy Albano was incredibly rude while we were trying to check in. She huffed and puffed, walked away and slammed the door behind us, then paced in the hallway and said she was calling the police. There was an officer outside, so I asked him to help calm things down. He tried, but she wouldn't be reasoned with. Even the officer seemed baffled by how she acted. Hampton Inn should do a better job vetting its employees.
