Travel Inn

The front desk woman was really friendly, and we felt comfortable walking around the area, even to a store at night. I was traveling with another woman as a Black woman and didn’t feel unsafe. There were food spots, a Walgreens, liquor and hair stores, a dispensary, and gas stations within walking distance. We didn’t run into loud noise or people hanging around, either. My smoking room didn’t smell of cigarettes or weed when we checked in. We arrived at 11 a.m., well before the 3 p.m. check-in, and they let us in for an extra $20, which was helpful. The room looked dated but was clean, and the bed was comfortable. For the low price, it did the job. The main downside was getting around by Uber or Lyft, which could cost $25-30 depending on what you were doing. The Blue Line train was $8 and took us downtown. They also charged a $10 deposit for an iron.

There was a man passed out at the top of the stairs on both nights I stayed, and I had to step over him. The shower soaps were secured with padlocks. The room itself was filthy, with sticky floors and cigarette burns in the blanket. I slept fully dressed on top of the sheets. Beware, this place was awful. Minus 1,000 stars.

Travel Inn was nicer than I expected. The rooms had plenty of space, the rates were hard to beat, and they had free coffee in the morning. The front desk staff and cleaning crew were both very welcoming and friendly. There are lots of fast food places, restaurants, and gas stations nearby, too. People underrate this area. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

You won’t get housekeeping, and if you stay more than three days, they won’t even give you clean linens. The staff were extremely rude. The place gives off the feel of escort services, and the police are always there because of problems with drugs, fighting, and other issues. If you want to be comfortable, find another motel!
