Super 8 by Wyndham Brookhaven

You get what you pay for. There was shouting outside my door and doors slamming through the night, until 4 in the morning. I called the front desk several times. They finally called the police after it had been going on for more than four hours.

Housekeeping did a great job when I spilled something sticky. A woman and a young man mopped the whole floor, not just the spot, changed the towels, emptied the garbage, and checked if I needed anything else. They were quick and finished in about ten minutes. The front desk staff were just as lovely, always sweet and helpful when I had a question or needed something. The bed was so comfortable, with clean sheets and covers, and soft, fluffy pillows that supported my head and shoulders. I’d forgotten my special pillows at home and didn’t even need them. The room smelled fresh and was clean, which isn’t what I usually find in motels. The bathroom and tub were spotless, the tub wasn’t slick, and the water got nice and hot. My only suggestion is grab bars in the tub and shower, and perhaps portable shower seats available on request for people with limited mobility. The AC and heat both worked perfectly, even with temperatures in the high 80s at check-in and low 40s the next night. The microwave and refrigerator were clean and worked well too. I had a very good stay at Super 8 and will come back.

I got the uninterrupted sleep I needed, with soft beds and pillows that were just right. I’m used to firm hotel beds, so these were a nice surprise. The hotel was away from the busy area, which worked perfectly for me, my husband, and our two small kids. Check-in was quick and easy, and the manager who checked me in and out was very nice and gave great service during our short stay.

Leaving was the only good part of our stay. Driving up felt like arriving at the house in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The room was awful and seemed untouched since 1970, with no updates or cleaning. I had serious safety concerns and was quite sure there had been illegal activity at some point. I don’t recommend staying here for any reason.
