The hot tub was lovely and the shower was stunning, but the house itself was in a disturbing state. There was dried dog poop on the carpet in the Captain's Quaters suite, and the towel my spouse gave me after that incredible shower smelled as if it had been used to clean dog urine. I’m a light sleeper and woke to a strong skunk spray smell. The person downstairs kept using the sliding door and playing the TV until 3 a.m., and I could hear it through the floor. When I asked the next morning who had been skunked, someone in the kitchen brushed me off, saying, “Oh, I wasn’t here, I don’t live here,” while making breakfast. Breakfast itself was disappointing. Personal paperwork was scattered all over the house and decorations, as if the caretakers hadn’t expected guests. The owners need to know the caretakers aren’t looking after this beautiful home. The location is great, but the experience didn’t justify what we paid. Honestly, I felt like we were either being scammed or intruding in someone’s private home. That’s not the etiquette I expected from a B&B.

The ocean view and private deck were outstanding, and we loved sitting in our own hot tub at night in a light rain, watching the nearby waves. Our Mermaid suite was cozy, comfortable, quiet, and private, with an incredibly comfy bed. The whole house had eclectic decor, and the open bar upstairs was a fun surprise. Breakfast was delicious, and we had a lovely morning chat with Nancy, then a nice conversation with John before leaving. They’re wonderful hosts, and have added lots of thoughtful touches that make the B&B feel personal. Our one night at the Mermaid's Muse was the favorite stay of our entire 10-day Oregon road trip. We only wished we could stay longer. A real gem, and we highly recommend it!

The house and its views were so relaxing, and the hot tubs are perfectly placed for watching the waves. We had a great time in our quirky, fun, and very comfortable room. We enjoyed every minute of our anniversary stay, one of the highlights of our 25 years together. John, Nancy, and their occasional staff are the absolute best. Thanks, John and Nancy. Highly recommend!

A hidden gem, this place is beautiful and has such warm, welcoming decor. Our room was neat and clean, and breakfast came out warm. They hosted us so well, and we absolutely loved it. I’d recommend this cozy spot over any hotel anytime. A must stay.
