Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Brooklyn Park - Brooklyn Center, MN

I’m staying in room 121, and the service has been awful. The shower was clogged. After I asked several times, someone came and only partly fixed it, temporarily. They made a mess and said it would be cleaned right away, but two hours later nobody had come. The front desk doesn’t answer calls, and there’s no maintenance person on site to handle problems. A housekeeping worker did come by and try to remove hair from the shower.

The suites are spacious, the beds comfortable, and there’s plenty of parking. There’s also a pool and hot tub, but both were so cloudy and poorly cleaned that I didn’t dare get in. The room sensor shuts off the heat or AC when nobody’s inside. Maybe that saves the hotel energy, but it left the room getting too cold or hot. I was on the ground floor and could hear every step from the guests above me. The lot had been plowed, but not cleared of ice, so the whole thing was like a skating rink. There was also a truck and trailer taking up the front parking spaces even though parking was clearly available at the side or back. I drive with a truck and trailer myself, and wouldn’t take front spaces away from other guests like that. Seems like they’re trying to save a buck, like much of the city.

The one thing that worked well was breakfast. It was standard hotel fare, but staff kept it stocked and the dining area was very clean. The room itself was in poor repair and hadn’t been cleaned well. The bathroom tile was filthy, the carpet looked barely vacuumed, and the bedding seemed clean but worn, with what might have been burn holes. One towel in the stack smelled strongly of perfume. We won’t stay here again. We were here for a soccer tournament, and our club picked the hotel. We paid a top-tier price for low-rent accommodations. The location is very close to a busy interstate, with lots of sirens late at night. Parking is limited in the well-lit areas. There are hopefully better options for your stay.

Breakfast was good, and the area was clean, but the rest of the stay was rough. Our room floor and bathroom were very dirty, and the hallways smelled bad. The front desk clerk had poor customer service, and the beds were hard. I’m not sure we’d stay again.
