The staff were lovely and the location was good, but this wouldn’t be my pick for a restful night. The rooms feel old, and the AC units are loud, switching on and off with a thump even when the fan is left running. They kept us awake and woke us up all night. My roommate said it sounded like a squealing freight train. The room deodorizer also has a really strong diaper or baby wipe smell. It’s not a bad hotel, but there are better Marriott properties in the area.

All the staff we met were friendly and professional, the room was decent, and breakfast was really good. It’s a shame the billing mess spoiled what could otherwise have been a positive stay. The quoted price for seven nights was good, but the AC unit was very noisy and we couldn’t seem to turn it off. We stayed seven nights in April and May 2026. The booking email said the total was $786, payable on arrival. At check-in, they charged $1,150 and said it was for “incidentals,” though they couldn’t tell us the amount. They said it would come off if we spent nothing at the hotel. I asked for a printed bill, but they said they couldn’t provide one. I asked about the charges every day, and nobody could explain how they were calculated. At checkout, they again couldn’t print an itemized bill. They emailed one, but it didn’t say what we owed or break down the charges. Eventually, $912 was taken from our account. The hotel changed computer systems during our stay, but that had nothing to do with the billing problem, despite what they’re now claiming. Once home, it was very difficult to find where to raise the issue on Marriott’s website. After I got a complaint through, they investigated and agreed we’d been overcharged by $106. That’s something, but we still think it should have been $126.

Larry at the front desk was a pleasure to talk with, and welcomed us with a goody bag for being a Marriott Elite member. The beds were super comfortable, the bathroom clean and spacious, and the hotel and rooms were very nice and clean. We had a pleasant stay. It’s in a good spot near lots of restaurants and the freeway, and there’s a nice fitness room, though we didn’t get to use it. The hot water could have been hotter, but it was manageable. The one thing we missed was a hot tub.

The only snag was getting inside. Staff weren’t watching the door, so it took a while to enter the lobby, then I waited for a receptionist to come out from the back. Beyond that, the food and service were the best, the rooms were immaculate, and there was lots of parking. For the price, this is a very nice-looking hotel. It’s probably the nicest, cleanest, freshest, most pleasant place I’ve stayed in the past year. Other hotels should have their staff visit and train here. I can’t wait to come back.

We arrived around 1 a.m. after the Farm Aid concert, only to learn the hotel had given away our room because it was overbooked. We’d driven six hours from Chicago, and since nearby hotels were sold out for the festival, we spent an hour calling around before finding a much pricier place with no breakfast. We got only a couple of hours of sleep. Earlier, staff had said we were too early to check in, but the concert started at noon, so checking in afterward was our only option. The night clerk tried to help us find another hotel. When I called the manager on Monday, he wasn’t understanding, and we weren’t offered anything for the disruption. I booked this Fairfield for its location, free breakfast, and price. I’ll never stay at another Fairfield again.
