We booked two nights at Suburban Studios Minneapolis / Brooklyn Center, from September 5 to September 7, 2025, but left after one night. The bed was comfortable, but I was worried about bed bugs because the room was so dirty. Traffic from the interstate was noisy, and our second floor windows didn’t close tightly, with broken window locks. I wouldn’t stay again even for $1 a night including taxes, and I haven’t asked for a refund for the unused night. After reading reviews once I checked in, I doubt I’d get it. Sorry for the long rant. The lobby floor had wrappers, litter, and dirt in the corners and badly needed vacuuming and mopping. The elevator and second floor hallway smelled strongly of marijuana. The front desk clerk was nice and tried to help, though he seemed to be handling housekeeping as well as the desk. The room was dirty too: the toilet bowl was black, the tub had a ring around its floor, and the shower faucet dripped. Floors needed mopping, dresser drawers wouldn’t close, the cooktop was badly stained, and what looked like tomato sauce was splattered on the wall and cabinets. We had one pillow on a queen bed, one towel, no washcloths, and no bath mat. There was no TV remote. The clerk found one, but it only turned the TV on. He said he didn’t know how the TVs or remotes worked and told me to ask my friend staying in the hotel. I asked how my friend would know, and requested he call someone who did. He brought a different remote that also didn’t work. We managed to watch some TV using the buttons on the set. We also learned pretty quickly that Brooklyn Center wasn’t an ideal area.

The room was dirty, poorly maintained, and had just one bath towel. There wasn’t even a plastic or paper cup, so I had to get one at reception. A towel rail had come off the bathroom wall and was never replaced. At check in, the clerk required a $100 damage deposit and said it would be refunded at checkout. It wasn’t. I called the police, still haven’t received the money, and plan to contact my bank about reporting fraud and make a small claims court claim. There was nothing in the room you could possibly damage. If the low price and location make you consider staying here, think again. It truly isn’t worth it.

The rooms were dirty, and proper towels weren’t provided unless you asked. The staff and hotel were horrible. Someone else booked this for me, and if I could have gotten a refund and booked somewhere else, I would have. There’s a required $100 refundable deposit. I’ll never stay here again.

I arrived overnight after my flight and picked this place because it was near where I was working that day. I told the front desk I was a member and gave my ID and email address. The clerk said there’d be a refundable deposit, and I agreed to the price. The room was dirty, with what looked like gas station trash and pieces of weed in a drawer. I didn’t unpack much because of roaches. I also overheard a traveling Choice worker frustrated that the desk wasn’t giving him his employee discount. Later, when I went through my bag at the site, I found a roach in it. I can’t recommend this place.

We decided to cancel our planned stay here on the way home and booked a different motel. At the start, I’d pulled into a space beside a pile of vomit, and the building had a funky smell. The elevator was dirty and looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed since it was installed. In the room, there was only one towel for two people, no hand towels or washcloths, and no toilet paper. For an extended stay, there were no plates, cups, or utensils. The only chair looked like Cujo had attacked it (See Picture), and the dresser and TV stand looked like someone had pulled them out of a dumpster (See Picture).
