La Quinta Inn & Suites Minneapolis Northwest

It's no longer a motel. The place has become a shelter for families without housing, and I'm not staying here. Someone I know does, though, and says it's an okay place. I'm thankful it gives single mothers a fresh start. They provide three hot meals and snacks, clean the rooms once a week, and offer programs that teach young women about life choices and available options.

Customers, be careful. I had serious car trouble and this was the closest place off 694. Within two minutes of pulling in, a security officer came up to my car and told me to leave right away because I was on private property. It really seemed to me like they had something to hide. If you plan to stay here, be warned: they may have some shady side business going on. Something strange seems to be happening here.

The room rate and location are why I picked this okay hotel. The carpet felt grimy, and the pool area looked patched together, with an open electrical box. Breakfast was nothing special. The attendant had bits of lawn or brush debris stuck to the back of her shirt. After housekeeping made the beds and left fresh towels while we were out, they also set the air conditioner to 72 degrees. The room was too warm when we got back, and I run hot, so I didn't appreciate that. I could understand doing it after checkout. Our key cards also stopped working after 8 am on checkout day. 🤔

I had a comfortable stay, with a clean room, comfortable bed, and no problems. The pool was large, and breakfast had lots of choices in a nice dining area. The breakfast attendant was lovely, and those seasoned potatoes were a favorite. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and manager Bran was amazing to talk with. Fresh water and coffee were available all the time, and the coffee was excellent. I'd definitely choose this hotel again.
