WoodSpring Suites College Station

We finally gave up trying to sleep and left around 6am. There was activity going on all night, and we couldn't bring ourselves to sleep under the covers because of how filthy the place felt. People were basically sleeping in cars in the lot too. Cigarette butts were all over the entrance. It seemed more like a homeless shelter or halfway house than a hotel. I wasted $85. An RV spot and sleeping in my SUV would have been cleaner and offered better amenities. The photos online fooled me when I needed a last minute room. I arrived at 4pm on Saturday, Dec 20th, and nobody was at the desk. You had to figure out how to call someone on your cell. Check-in was easy enough, but the clerk gave no directions to the elevator or room before disappearing into the back. Coming back in with our bags, we were hit by weed and a general sour smell. The elevator floor looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in months, with pet hair, stains, and some odd white powder like the stuff used to clean up vomit at elementary schools. The second floor hall was dirty too, with trash everywhere. Our room was okay, but there was trash under the beds, long black hairs in the shower, and dingy-looking faucets. Over the past few months I'd seen lots of posts about the lack of cleanliness, with the GM replying that housekeeping would be told. Did that happen, or did the cleaning staff boycott? Cleaning doesn't cost much. It's a mindset, and some people just don't care. I don't recommend staying here.
