Best Western Plus Buda Austin Inn & Suites

The breakfast was terrific every morning, and our room and bed were clean, quiet, and convenient. We stayed four nights and five days, and we’ll definitely come back. Everyone we dealt with, from the front desk to food service and housekeeping, was courteous and professional. Rob deserves a special mention. We saw him doing maintenance in vacant rooms and helping housekeeping by removing dirty linens from rooms after checkout, before they were cleaned. When we needed extra toiletries during our longer stay, he kindly got them for us.

The staff were always kind and helpful, but I wouldn’t stay here again. I heard some sort of domestic violence incident in the room right above mine, then spent the night distracted by that and all the other noises in the hotel. Maybe I was a little paranoid, but I didn’t sleep well. I was shocked to see so many positive reviews after I started looking through them. Maybe my experience was unusual. I’d read that other local hotels had car vandalism and bed bugs, and neither happened here. If that’s your minimum, then sure, stay here.

We stayed one night in April because we had things to do in Austin but didn’t want to stay there. This place was close enough to what we wanted to do and near the interstate. If you time it right, traffic into Austin may not be a problem. It never was for us. The room was simple and clean, just as advertised, and check-in and checkout were easy. Breakfast was pretty standard for a hotel at this level, though I appreciated that they had tortillas so you could make a breakfast taco. The downside is that there’s a pool but no hot tub. I’d stay here again if I’m in the area.

I’ve had a few rooms here smell like urine before, even as a Diamond Select member, and had to ask for another room right away. Last night was far worse. I cleaned the entire room and bathroom, but the smell was still strongest near the AC units. Maybe it was coming from the curtains, but I couldn’t tell. Within a couple of hours, I woke up vomiting from the odor and had to sleep in my truck. The front desk service was awful, with a very poor attitude and almost no offer to make things right. I felt like I was charged $30 to clean the room and get sick. They said there was nothing else they could do about the rest of that night’s charge, and I also lost my points for the following night, which I had booked with points. I wasn’t due to check out until around Wednesday, but I couldn’t spend the week like that. I waited an hour for a manager or supervisor who was supposed to arrive at 10 a.m., but never got to speak with anyone. Around 11, the same clerk offered me $30 and acted like they didn’t care. I’m local and will never return. Best Western is the only hotel chain I’ve ever used, but I seriously doubt I’ll use it again. I turned around and walked out. So sad.
