Motel 6 Buellton, CA - Solvang Area

I’ve stayed at plenty of Motel 6 locations before without trouble, but this visit was very different. I chose this room because it was one of the cheaper options, then found it disgustingly dirty. There were stains all around the bed, and I was uncomfortable sleeping there. The AC unit looked like it hadn’t been dusted in years, which seems like a basic cleaning task. There was gunk and dried liquid under the chairs and table, and I don’t even want to guess what it was. Who knows what else I missed. We left and paid more for a nicer, cleaner hotel nearby. The older woman at the desk refused to refund me or try to make it right. I took the loss because I wasn’t going to sleep in that room. I was very dissatisfied with both the cleanliness and service. The low price isn’t worth it, and I recommend staying somewhere else.

There was mold on the bathroom ceiling, the heater didn’t work, the shower curtain was dirty, and the bathroom light was out. The sheets were dirty too, which makes me think they hadn’t been changed before we checked in. We paid too much for what we got. This is the first time I haven’t left housekeeping a tip, but they clearly weren’t doing their job.

The rooms and decor aren’t anything special, but they work well enough. The location is so convenient for this tourist area that I didn’t feel like quibbling over that, especially with a surprisingly low price. I think pets are always welcome, though we weren’t traveling with one this time. Egg McMuffins for breakfast are right next door, too.

The staff were great, but the room was filthy and smelled awful. We found a used tissue in one of the beds, trash behind the bathroom door, mold on the ceiling, and hair and brown stuff running down the side of the bathtub. They couldn’t move us to another room, so they gave us a discount instead. Really disappointing.
