Having a family get assigned to our room on the second night was unsettling. They tried to get in, and that’s how we found out the front desk had put them in the same room. I don’t know how two reservations ended up there for the same night, but it happened, and I felt uneasy in the room for the rest of our stay. This was my first time at a Hyatt and will probably be my last. I was at a conference here and chose the special rate instead of staying at a Hilton. At check-in, the employee was rude and couldn’t manage simple things like adding my roommate to the reservation or telling us where the elevator was. Our first room triggered an allergic reaction and had plenty wrong with it: unmade beds, badly stained carpet, blood and mold in the bathroom, and a phone that didn’t work. We switched rooms, which was better, but I still had bad allergies in the room throughout the trip. Michael, the assistant front desk manager, seemed to be the only competent employee and did help us, though he also rubbed us the wrong way. Communication was poor. There was also what seemed to be a lot of gas constantly coming out from the side of the building. Every time we went out to explore downtown, I had to hold my breath to avoid breathing it in. The building didn’t seem up to fire code either, with emergency exit signs missing on each floor. I travel a lot, and this was honestly my worst hotel experience. I’ve had better stays at a Best Western in the middle of nowhere.

The location worked well, with nice restaurants and attractions within walking distance. Kevin at the front desk was especially good at his job, really friendly, and seemed to enjoy meeting people. We stayed one night. The room was fine, though not the cleanest, with a few stains on the chair. There was also a huge ball of hair floating in the pool, and you could hear almost everything through the walls between rooms.

Dyarl was the best part. He was so much fun and shared great local history stories and advice. I’d definitely stay here again. It’s an older hotel, but that added to the charm. We had a great room on the 11th floor near the pool, and the king bed was very comfortable.

The service didn’t even try to make a problem more bearable. The pool also closes earlier than at other hotels, the rooms are small, and you can’t really control the thermostat. It just runs the fan, so our room was too hot. It’s overpriced for what you get. Don’t spend $30 on valet when overnight parking across the street is $12. We stayed at the Hampton inn East Aurora the night before and should have stayed there again. It was cheaper, with bigger, more renovated rooms, a hotel library, and breakfast included.

We were preparing for a wedding on the day we checked in, and had made that clear ahead of time. Still, the hotel wouldn’t accommodate us in any reasonable way before 2 p.m. and kept saying they were “fully committed.” Other Hyatt Regency locations have let us check in early without trouble, so this felt unnecessary and careless. When people are attending a big event like a wedding, some basic effort and hospitality matter. Instead, we were stressed, delayed, and scrambling because the hotel showed no flexibility or care. It wasted our time and money and hurt our trust. I wouldn’t recommend this location. Stay elsewhere if service and consideration matter to you.
