SpringHill Suites by Marriott Chesapeake Greenbrier

James, the manager, arranged a conference room with sports equipment so the kids could get together and play during our hockey tournament weekend. He was genuinely interested in making it fun for them. The rooms were clean, housekeeping did a good job, and every staff member I met was caring and helpful. Traveling with a lot of children can sometimes make hotel staff less welcoming, but we felt very welcome here. James and the rest of the team made the weekend memorable. I’d recommend this hotel for youth sports trips.

We stayed for one night before our cruise, and the staff greeted our family so kindly. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. I loved our stay, and that kindness meant a lot to our family. Thank you.

The excellent shower pressure was about the only good thing I can say. We booked this over Thanksgiving because the suite layout and pull-out trundle suited our family, and only stayed because the booking couldn’t be refunded. The room was in such poor shape that I seriously thought about leaving and sleeping on the floor at my father’s house. There was someone else’s hair on the carpet and in the shower, so it clearly hadn’t been cleaned or vacuumed between guests. I also found silverfish in the bathroom. The security latch was barely attached and didn’t stop the door from opening, even when set correctly. That felt unsafe. (Photos attached.) During our stay the bed was never made, and towel service was haphazard: no bath mat, all the towels were taken, and only one came back. Breakfast was very poor, too. I didn’t raise these problems at the time because it was Thanksgiving and the hotel already seemed understaffed, but basic cleanliness and a secure room are essential. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The rooms are really spacious, and I felt comfortable staying here because the staff are so friendly and caring. I didn’t have any problems, though I got the sense they’d take care of anything that came up. I’m happy with Marriott so far, and glad I switched from hilton.
