Moreland Guesthouse is tucked away in Buffalo's suburbs, almost on the way to the airport, and felt like a hidden gem. The facilities were clean and the service friendly. The area has a small town vibe and turned out to be much more accessible, including by public transport, than I'd first thought. Highly recommend.

The host Catherine was the kindest and most accommodating, and a shout out to business owner Nika. The beds were clean, the room temperature was just right, and the common areas were tidy and organized. Everyone was polite and waited their turn to use them. It's a wonderful, clean place to stay when visiting Buffalo, New York, and we'll be back next time we're in town. Facebook me Jerome JAY Owens, and you know I don’t play about where I stay.

I've stayed at Moreland Guesthouse twice, once for most of a week and later for a weekend. It's cozy, run by great people, and an incredible value. It's practical if you don't need flashy touches or every amenity. You get a bedroom with a TV, a dresser or chest, maybe a closet, plus a shared bathroom and laundry. There's a full kitchen available too, and the shared spaces come with the expectation that you clean up after yourself. It's about 12 minutes from downtown Buffalo, on the city's east side. On paper, that might put some people off, but I felt safe and secure there. There's plenty of food nearby, including Lovejoy pizza, which I think has the best slice in the city. It's a wonderful spot run by wonderful people, and I'll always consider them first when I'm in the 716.

This lovely guesthouse used to be the living quarters for the Catholic nuns who ran the school next door. The common rooms are being renovated, while the bedrooms are simple and comfortable. There's a shared bath. The neighborhood is working class and felt safe. I had a rental car, which is really a must in Buffalo since it's so spread out.

Three bus routes run through the area, which made getting around easy. I stayed here for nine months, and Linda was great throughout, always friendly and ready to help. She even picked me up at the airport or train station and could give me a ride back when I needed one. Give it a try, whether you’re staying a long time or just briefly.
