The location is very nice, which makes the rest of the experience a shame. At check-in I was given keys to a room that already had someone in it. There's a strong musty, mildew smell throughout the building, worse in the room. I woke each morning with a sore throat and headache from it. When I told the front desk clerk, she seemed uninterested and said she'd have someone spray the room. Whatever they sprayed, it still smelled musty when I got back. The whole building needs to be checked for hidden leaks. There's no reason it should smell that way everywhere, and the staff either don't notice or don't care. The ventilation is poor. I'm never staying there again and don't recommend it at all.

There was some quick check-in service from one young woman, and she always said hello or goodbye when I came and went. But this was the worst Marriott property I've stayed at. Paint was peeling in lots of places, especially around the bathroom seals, and the room, sheets, and towels kept smelling like mildew. Noise came through constantly from both the hall door and the connecting room doors, with no soundproofing. The main door had cracks that seemed to be from slamming or humidity, covered and sealed shoddily. The toilet kept running unless you jiggled the handle into just the right spot. And unless the bathroom door was completely closed, it blocked entry from the main door.

The location was pleasant, near shops and a gas station, but the second floor room and breakfast area I used could use a refresh. Hallways and elevators look like they've seen years of wear. My room was clean, though the walls had lots of paint spots and patches. The mattress was comfortable but clearly worn, and the bathroom was okay. There was no body lotion or the usual things on the counter. The shower's three refillable bottles for body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are a good idea, though I'm always suspicious that a previous guest might do something to them. Both the bathroom and front door handle areas were marked with dirt and needed cleaning. Breakfast had plenty stocked, but the furniture badly needs replacing. It was an okay stay overall, with a few minor concerns.

It was nice, but nothing especially memorable. The service was great, and being set back from GA 20 made it quieter. In the room there were plenty of outlets but no USB ports, so bring adapters, and there wasn't any lighting by the desk. They do provide an ethernet cord. Some more up-to-date technology would help.

The Studio King was roomy and clean, with a separate sitting area alongside the bed and lots of desk space if you need to work. The hotel also has an indoor pool and fitness center. Front desk staff were outstanding, and after booking and checking in online, arrival was quick and easy. Fairfield Inn and Suites is in Buford, GA just off I-85, near Mall of Georgia and plenty of restaurants. TopGolf and Andretti Indoor Karting and Games are just down the street. Breakfast comes with the rate, with eggs, waffles, bakery items, yogurt, fruit, and drinks. Good property, great location, reasonable price.
