Our week in the Big Horn Mountains was full of wildlife and trail riding. The owner gave us helpful advice on where and when to look, and we ended up seeing hundreds of elk and several moose up close. We brought our own UTVs, and having fuel right at the lodge made it easy to head out on trails each morning. The rooms were roomy and clean, with a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. We also enjoyed the on-site restaurant. The prices ran a little high, but the food was tasty, and the waitresses made meals more fun with their humor and friendly service. The gift shop had souvenirs along with practical things like ice and other supplies. The owner was great to talk with, and the whole stay made for a relaxing, adventurous getaway. We’d happily return to Elk View Inn.

Elk View is a beautiful spot with very good food, a talented chef, side-by-sides and snowmobiles for rent, and a lovely gift shop. The husband who manages the rentals, grounds, and general maintenance was especially friendly and gave us 10/10 customer service. I’d come back for a meal or to rent a side-by-side, but I wouldn’t plan an event there. Trying to arrange my wedding reception with the owner, Heather, was an awful experience. I couldn’t get clear answers, menu options, or a cost breakdown despite asking repeatedly. I didn’t receive an estimate until three weeks before the wedding, when the cost also turned out to be very high. I had already paid the required $500 deposit and had tried to stay patient, but things kept getting harder. I’d arranged a meeting and tour three months ahead and traveled all the way from PA, but Heather forgot I was coming. We were supposed to leave the next day and had to delay our departure to meet with her. During the meeting, she rushed us because the staff wanted her to take them for a side-by-side ride. I should have canceled then, but tried to be understanding. Three weeks before my wedding, I had to cut my losses, give up the deposit, and find another venue. They sent meal options and an estimate within 20 minutes of my inquiry, then helped arrange all the reception details within an hour. They supplied the table decorations too, for a fraction of Elk View’s price. They made planning easy and enjoyable, which is the kind of service a bride deserves. I’m very disappointed with the owner’s customer service, though I’m glad we went elsewhere.

A great place to meet, with friendly staff and a good pool table. The food was mediocre at best. The lodge itself is beautiful, though. It was built around 20 years ago by some Amish builders, and the cabin work is impressive. It’s worth stepping inside to take in the craftsmanship.

A fun winter stay. Renting snowmobiles was simple, and the rides were great. The rooms were nice, and we ate well at the restaurant. The owners were friendly and gave us useful information about the area. Angelea at the front desk was professional and friendly too.

We were camping at a nearby campground and stopped at Elk View twice over a few days. The owners were helpful and friendly, and renting a UTV was easy. The machines were in great shape. We also had drinks and food at the bar and bought fuel and a few other items. The food was very good.
