From outside, you could easily drive right past this motor inn, though it's handily located just off I-70. After spending a night here, I can say it was clean and convenient. The manager welcomed us warmly, and check-in and checkout were quick. We stayed in an updated room that had been done really well, and the bed was comfortable. I've paid more at places that were less well looked after. If you want to head into town, it's about a 10-15 minute walk to 15th St, where the bars and food are. I'd stay here again when I'm in Burlington.

Stopped here while passing through and found a nice little motel. The employees were genuinely kind. The rooms have been updated recently; some wear shows, but they're still quaint and clean. Breakfast was okay. Other coffee and fast food spots are close enough to walk to if you'd rather have something else.

The family running the Chaparral were always kind, and it's good to see motels being renovated in places like Burlington. Still, for what I paid, this property wasn't at a basic enough standard. I wouldn't stay again. There were some real positives: the mattresses and pillows had bedbug covers, the headboards were solid rather than upholstered, and the water got hot. Having a grassy patch outside the rooms was handy for pets. At sunset, hundreds of great-tailed grackles roosted in the huge tree and made a glorious chorus. The interstate and a grocery store are nearby, which is convenient. But the room was dirty and battered, with holes in the walls and front door, stains on the ceiling, and bathroom tiles that looked as if someone had only partly covered them with primer. The shower head pointed straight down, so I had to stand over the drain to get wet. The mini fridge tipped forward whenever I opened it. The breakfast room was at least 85 degrees because the ice and drink machines gave off so much heat. They had an EV charger, but said charging my vehicle would cost another $15. I paid $182 for one night with the pet fee. At $55, it might have been a decent deal, but it absolutely wasn't worth what I paid. I wish the family well and mean no disrespect by saying that.

I ended up here when dust storms closed I-70, and it was exactly what I needed: a pleasant, quiet night. I've stayed in lots of motels like this while traveling, and didn't expect much. The bed was excellent after a long drive, with firm memory foam, and the pillows were acceptable, not the usual bag of tennis balls. It was clean and had been nicely remodeled at some point, and the woman at the desk was kind. The price compared well with nearby places. It's an old-school, single-story setup where you park right in front of the room, making it easy to unload and load the car. If I-70 closes again, I know where to go.

I chose Chaparral Inn on a road trip because it's right off the exit, and getting there was easy. The staff were relaxed and friendly, and check-in was simple. They made me feel welcome right away. There was plenty of parking by the door, so unloading my things was easy. My room was clean and much nicer than I'd expected for the price, with a comfortable bed, good AC, and Wi-Fi that worked perfectly. The hot breakfast in the morning saved me time and money before I got back on the road. A solid place to stop while traveling, and I'd stay again.
