The staff made me feel looked after from the start, and every interaction was easy and positive. My room was modern, spotless, and very comfortable, with a lot of care apparent in the design. Hotel Champlain Burlington is also in a great spot, with lovely Lake Champlain views and downtown Burlington close by. I had a fantastic stay and would gladly return. It works well for a short trip or a longer visit, and I’d recommend it to anyone wanting a high-quality stay in Burlington.

Ousmane at the front desk helped us throughout our stay, and Jane was so friendly and helpful in the breakfast area. Harrison in the restaurant gave us excellent recommendations and made dinner a great experience. The staff really made the visit special. The room was top notch, with a beautiful view of the water, and having streaming services on the TV was a nice bonus. The hotel looked gorgeous as soon as we pulled up, and the lively lobby and Mezzanine were beautiful spaces. One of the best stays my wife and I have had while traveling.

We were disappointed after looking forward to staying at Hotel Champlain based on the good reviews. Only after booking, in the final confirmation, did I find out the pool and hot tub were closed for renovation. I called to complain. They offered to reduce the amenities fee, but I asked for a room upgrade instead and they agreed. We chose room 701 on the seventh floor, listed as “Premium Lake View.” It was small and shabby, with a cramped, worn toilet and shower room. The windows were dripping with condensation, and the room felt damp and had an odd smell. The hotel generally gives the impression that it has seen better days and needs updating. Service was fine. I only found out about the coffee station on our floor by reading a review and going to look for it. It’s a nice feature, though it also looks tired. The water and sparkling water option is a nice touch. The restaurant was decent but pricey, and the cafe felt overpriced. There’s a hotel around the corner with better value and quality.

We booked Hotel Champlain Burlington VT for our daughter’s birthday because she wanted something fun and hoped to swim. At check-in, the person at the counter didn’t explain how to get to our room or mention the amenities. That wasn’t a big deal, and we found our way ourselves. The view over the water was neat, but condensation was running down the window and there was a large amount of mold at its base inside the room. We’d booked because the hotel website said it had a pool. After we changed into bathing suits and asked at the desk where to find it, we were told it had been closed in 2025 due to structural concerns. We returned to the room and ordered dinner through room service. The food from original Skiff Fish & Oysters was excellent. We left the dishes outside our door, assuming someone would collect them. In the morning, at least 11 hours later, they were still in the hallway, with bags containing vomit and garbage left on top of the plates. There was more vomit farther down the hall. The coffee, tea, and hot chocolate bar had splashes and spilled coffee and other debris on the counter, and it hadn’t been freshly restocked. When we left through the breakfast area, crumbs and food from the night before were still on the floor in several places. We raised our concerns and were told we’d get our money back for the stay. Once home, we all showered. My son noticed a slight rash on his chest and neck, and a doctor told us they were bed bug bites. We were concerned about the hotel’s cleanliness for other guests, so we called the Department of Health. A week later, we still hadn’t received a refund. My husband called to follow up and was treated very rudely. After another week without a refund, I called a third time and still haven’t received it. We don’t stay in hotels often, but when we do, we expect a clean bed, friendly and honest service, and an experience that makes us want to return. This left us with memories of mold, bed bugs, unfriendly and dishonest service, and disappointment. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone, even as a last resort.

The room was comfortable and clean, the view was great, and it was mostly quiet. We were out and about much of the time during our one-night stay in May on a short road trip. We booked ahead through the Hilton app. Staff we spoke with were nice. There’s a ground-floor restaurant and bar with outdoor seating, plus a mezzanine cafe serving breakfast with a pleasant outdoor balcony. We had drinks and shrimp cocktail at the bar, and everything was good. The coffee bar and water station on our floor were handy, though the sparkling water had gone flat. Parking is in an adjacent garage that, as I understand it, is owned by the city and open to the public. ParkMobile is used for payment, unless you’re a hotel guest, in which case the hotel handles a $16 per day charge. The elevator from the garage to the hotel was broken at ground level, so we had to walk up and around to the lobby. I’m not sure how many levels the garage has. If stairs with bags could be a problem, you may want to pull into the entry driveway to check in before parking. The location worked well for us.
